All ITS Classroom Hotline-supported General Purpose Classrooms (GPCs) are capable of supporting a web conference by using the document camera in each room. For more information about using the document camera for a web conference, please watch our tutorial video here.
You can use any web conferencing client you wish in your classroom (Skype, Skype for Business, Google Hangouts, Polycom RealPresence, etc.) but Zoom is the preferred program across all of UNC Chapel Hill, and all UNC-CH faculty, staff, and students have access to a free Zoom account. Click here if you'd like more information on setting up an account with Zoom. Please follow our tutorial video for setting up Zoom for a web conference or for lecture capture in your classroom.
Many of the GPCs are equipped with permanently installed cameras and microphone systems that will capture high quality audio and video for a web conference. The following rooms have this capability (please click on each room to view its description page:)
If you have any questions about web conferencing in classrooms, please call the Hotline at 919-962-6702, email us at hotline@unc.edu, or submit a ticket to us.
